Breakdown

Shopify's published standard online rates; Amex and international cards cost more on both plans. The fixed fee per payment is the same on both, so it doesn't change the result. Not included: the variable platform fee Shopify charges higher-volume businesses. Shopify does not publish the rate, so ask for a quote.

    How it works

Plus costs more a month than Advanced, but takes less from every sale: the standard online card rate on Shopify Payments drops from 2.5% to 2.25% in the US and from 1.6% to 1.3% in Europe, and the fee for using a third-party gateway drops from 0.6% to 0.2%. So the more you sell, the more you save.

The calculator adds up that saving, plus the stores and apps you'd stop paying for, subtracts it from the extra cost, and tells you at what monthly sales Plus starts to pay for itself. Saving money isn't the only reason for Plus: if you need to change checkout itself or run custom Functions, what counts is the cost of not being able to.
